The European Commission has launched a public consultation for the strategy on life sciences in Europe

The European Commission has launched a public consultation process to define the strategy on life sciences in Europe. The goal is to gather views and input from citizens, researchers, businesses and stakeholders in a collaborative and inclusive process.

The purpose of the consultation is to obtain information on the life sciences sector in Europe, specifically regarding:
•⁠ ⁠ways to address challenges and seize opportunities for the life sciences, such as in relation to:
• the investment landscape in Europe, both public and private;
•⁠ the collection and use of data and the development/application of artificial intelligence;
•⁠ research and technology infrastructure;
•⁠ life sciences training and skills development;
• major emerging research areas;
• the development, manufacture, deployment, and/or safe adoption of technologies and products in specific areas of life sciences (e.g., human and animal health, food, feed, agriculture, energy);
• ways to simplify the regulatory system and make it fit for purpose (i.e., support the growth of life sciences); and
• ways to foster people’s awareness, understanding, and engagement in life sciences and the alignment of related technological advances with societal values.

The responses received to this call for input will be analyzed and a summary of the results will be made public.

• life sciences industries, including start-ups, SMEs and large enterprises, and their associations;
• research and technology organizations;
• professional and sectoral organizations;
• member state administrations and regional and local authorities;
• European Parliament, Committee of the Regions, and European Economic and Social Committee;

• regulatory authorities;
• civil society organizations, including patient and consumer organizations, and nongovernmental organizations;
• risk assessment bodies, national and Union;
• general public;
• investors; and
• international organizations (World Health Organization, Food and Agriculture Organization, etc. ).
