“Science and technology are for everyone, and the female contribution is essential for innovation.”
These are the words of Alessandra Petrucci, Rector of the University of Florence and a woman of science. An engineer with a PhD in applied statistics, Petrucci has nurtured “curiosity and a passion for knowledge” since she was a child. Today, on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, she discusses with Fortune Italia the challenges and characteristics of the digital-native generation, with a focus on STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and gender equality in the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) projects.
“There is still much to be done,” she says, “but the signs are encouraging.”
