World Heart Day: webinar on the EU plan for cardiovascular health.
Cardiovascular diseases, which affect the heart and blood vessels, are the leading cause of death in the EU, claiming 1.7 million lives each year.
To tackle this, the European Commission is developing an EU Cardiovascular Health Plan. This plan will emphasise on prevention, early detection and screening, care, management and rehabilitation. A special focus will be on developing health checks for cardiovascular diseases to identify people at risk. The plan will use the opportunities offered by new technologies, digital and personalised tools. It will also address the current gaps in research and innovation, and existing inequalities between Member States and population groups.
As a first step, DG SANTE has organized a Call for Evidence, with a deadline of September 15, to receive in-depth feedback.
The webinar with stakeholders aims to:
• Discover the preliminary results of the call for contributions.
• Join a discussion on key issues and ideas for the future of cardiovascular health in the EU.
The webinar will take place on September 29, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. CET.
