Public Consultation on Guidelines for the Processing of Personal Data for Scientific Research

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has launched a public consultation on draft guidelines regarding the processing of personal data for scientific research, with feedback accepted until June 25.

Why should this matter?

Because many of the day-to-day questions faced by researchers, hospitals, biotech companies, and digital health innovators are at the heart of these guidelines: whether it concerns consent, special categories of personal data, legal bases for research, and the necessary safeguards for using personal data for scientific purposes.

Good research is based on trust, participation, and clear rules.

If your organization works with health or research data, this is your chance to contribute to the discussion and help shape the final Guidelines.
Comments must be submitted no later than June 25, 2026, using the form available HERE. They will be published on the EDPB’s website.
