Up to 2,000 researchers could be hired by public research institutions and universities thanks to €60.7 million in annual funding from the Ministry of University and Research.
Minister Anna Maria Bernini has signed the implementing decrees for the extraordinary plan to recruit and promote research personnel provided for in the 2026 Budget Law. Of the 2,000 researchers who will be hired through a competitive selection process, 1,051 will be PNRR researchers. In addition, 880 will be assigned to universities and 204 to research institutions supervised by the Ministry of Education, Universities, and Research (MUR).
The objective of the Plan will be to make the skills developed within the projects financed by the PNRR structural.
